Adding our grain of Salt to improve our society

Far from merely supplying salt, we are conscious of the impact we can have on our society. For this reason, we understand the importance of supporting local projects, and every year we donate to various foundations to help them continue their vital work.

“We think global but we act local.”  Patrick Geddes

By encouraging our team members to participate in volunteer activities, we aim to foster a spirit of collaboration and compassion within our company. This initiative helps spread the value of honesty that defines our organization, extending not only to our work practices but also to our interactions with the community.

During the month of July, our team members experienced firsthand the tireless work of La Fundació El Xiprer in helping and accompanying those who need it most. For a morning and an afternoon, they joined the volunteers to prepare and serve breakfast and lunch for more than 70 people.

Additionally, as did it last year, they also prepared in their food warehouse shopping carts filled with basic food items, ensuring a balanced diet for all the families in need who came during the afternoon.

La Fundació el Xiprer and MaxiSalt

To gain a deeper understanding of La Fundació El Xiprer and the motivations behind MaxiSalt’s decision to collaborate with them, we interviewed Xavier Quincoces, the President of La Fundació, and Oriol Domènech, the General Manager of MaxiSalt.

La Fundació el Xiprer is a private non-profit organization whose project is to welcome and accompany those people who, for various reasons, suffer from loneliness, poverty, exclusion or social marginalization.

As explained by Xavier Quincoces, the first seed was planted by his parents Mercè Riera and Xavier Quincoces, when, after facing some difficulties in their lives, they took their experience as an opportunity to create a project based on sharing and accompanying. Consequently, all their areas of action are focused on creating a family-like atmosphere for everyone who comes, whether it’s for meals, activities, or other gatherings.

For over 10 years, at MaxiSalt, conscious of their important work in our city and region, we have been supporting them through donations and volunteer participation in their activities. As Oriol Domènech states, even if we are an internationalized company we don’t have to forget that our origins are in Granollers, and la Fundació El Xiprer is a referee when it comes to working with honesty, so we want to support them in their mission.

A glimpse into the future

At MaxiSalt, we are committed to continuously bringing value to our society. For this reason with an eye toward the future, our goal is to create a program where Corporate Social Responsibility plays an increasingly important role. The first move has been made: we have designated an internal team dedicated to these tasks and guiding our way forward.

What a life lesson we have learned from all the volunteers, workers, and participants. Their dedication and compassion have shown us the true power of community and the profound impact we can make in our society. As Mercè Riera once said,:

“If we have two pairs of shoes, we can give one away.”

We would like to thank the 190 volunteers and the 5 employees on staff of La Fundació for their essential work. We have opened our eyes to how important it is to understand the diverse realities we all face and to find meaning in life beyond the material things that often dominate our world.
